Volunteers and board members come together to assist teenage girls and young women at our Distribution Events held twice a year in the NTC area of Point Loma. We play music and have the donated clothing set up like a boutique to make the event fun for all the girls involved.
Distribution Events are not open to the general public. Girls are invited to our Distribution Events by the community organizations that serve them and their families. A reservation or RSVP is NOT necessary for those who receive an invitation through their social services agency or educational organization.
Volunteers are not required to sign up beforehand. Walk-in volunteers cannot be ensured a position on the floor assisting the girls, but are always welcome to help in the back room.
The events are free for the girls who receive an invitation from their social services agency. It is also free for the social services agency to sign girls up to attend our events.
If you know any girls that would benefit from our events, such as students, girls in foster care or girls that are homeless, please send us an email at info@mgcsandiego.org
Gently-used clothing, shoes and accessories are donated from all over San Diego County. Brands vary since donations are made from individuals. At the event, you will be given two bags that you may fill up as you like. Outside or additional bags are not permitted.
We are always looking for dedicated girls in middle and high school who want to help make a difference in the lives of local teenagers and young women in need. You can donate clothing, volunteer to hold a collection drive, join us at a Sorting or Distribution Event, or even apply for a position on our board. If you have questions or would like more information, please email us at info@mgcsandiego.org
We collect clothing throughout the year at the drop-off locations listed on the donations web page. Donations can be left in plastic bags or boxes on the front porches of these private homes. To receive a tax-deductible receipt, please provide a self-addressed envelope with your donation.
Many individuals and organizations help us by holding a collection drive. We will provide a detailed checklist to guide you through the process at every step of the way. If you would like to hold a drive, or have questions and would like more information, please email us at info@mgcsandiego.org
