My Girlfriend’s Closet

My Girlfriend’s Closet is an all-volunteer San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that collects quality, gently used clothing, shoes and accessories and distributes it free to area teenage girls and young women ages 13 through 22 who are homeless, in foster care or otherwise economically disadvantaged.  This unique wardrobe resource aims at building self-esteem and helping these young women feel more self-confident in their schools and communities.

Our volunteers collect clothing throughout the year at a variety of locations, then sort and distribute it twice a year at special “shopping” events.  We identify and target the young women whose need is greatest by working closely with more than 50 social service agencies and community organizations that serve them.
