Nonprofits to team up at Horton Plaza
DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO — Two local nonprofits are teaming up with Westfield Shopping Center-Horton Plaza to collect clothes and accessories for underprivileged girls and young women this month.
My Girlfriend’s Closet and the Princess Project will be accepting prom dresses, shoes and other apparel at Horton Plaza Mall. Donations can be made on the second level between Gymboree and ALDO.
The organizations will be staging five weekend collection events: Feb. 11-12, Feb. 18-19 and Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any clothing donated should be in good condition.
Gently worn jeans, pants, shorts, shirts, sweaters, jackets, pajamas, dresses, shirts and sweatshirts, as well as shoes and accessories are being sought.
Dresses can be formal gowns, party dresses or cocktail dresses, they should be in excellent condition and they must be dry-cleaned and on hangers upon donation. All lengths, sizes, fabrics and colors will be accepted.
My Girlfriend’s Closet and the Princess Project both donate clothing, shoes and accessories to foster children and underprivileged girls and young women. My Girlfriend’s Closet focuses on trendy clothing for those ages 13-22, and the Princess Project provides prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who otherwise couldn’t afford them.
